Laja Field (she/her) is a performer, teacher, creator and the Co-Artistic director of LajaMartin physical dance theater with partner, Martin Durov. Since its 2017 founding, LajaMartin has toured to 11 different countries worldwide; performing in festivals, creating for companies and schools as well as teaching in a multitude of capacities. Independently, Laja played an integral role in bringing her style of highly physical floor-work to NYC where she was also a founding member and rehearsal director with Vim Vigor. Her professional career began as a member of the Johannes Wieland company at Staatstheater Kassel, Germany where she had the pleasure of working with many incredible colleagues, teachers and guest choreographers. Laja holds a BFA from the University of Utah where she graduated magna cum laude in 2012. Currently Laja is based in her hometown Salt Lake City, UT and continues all artistic endeavors with LajaMartin locally and across the globe.

Delve into the world of LajaMartin: Part 1: Traditional floorwork class, activate and enable the body to travel through space in varying intensities influenced by rhythm and musicality. -short break- Part 2: Dive into the concept of creation exploring how to develop structure that conveys relatable environments through imposing surreal situations onto rational ideas.

Dancer and Co-Choreographer of Vertigo dance company. A graduate of the English National Ballet School in London and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. Danced with The Israel Ballet Company. Winner of the 2009 Israel Ministry of Education Prize for best dancer. Rina is the creator of “IMI”- a method integrating body and soul through movement. She devoted many years to research, focused on identifying forms of physical habits and how they reflect personal behaviour. The body as a reflection of our soul. Rina works, creates and teaches at the Vertigo Eco-Art Village where she lives with her family in a community that integrates arts, ecology and social awareness.

The masterclass that I developed combines release technique, contact improvisation, flow work and principles of classical and contemporary dance. The workshop includes improvisational techniques through which I, together with the dancers, research the connection between body and soul, emphasizing the inner line or center of the body, serving the technique. We elaborate on the awareness of our sensation to what exists at each moment, developing presence in the dancer’s individual qualities, channeling towards presentation of the movements. The 2nd part of the masterclass will include Vertigo’s language and some materials of the company’s repertoire. I will show the dancers how to connect the tools of the 1st part of the class with the repertoire.
