Gaga
Gaga is a movement language developed by Ohad Naharin over many years, alongside his work as a choreographer and former artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company.
Gaga originated from Naharin’s need to communicate with his dancers and his curiosity for ongoing research in movement.
Gaga classes are based on a deep listening to the body and physical sensations. Instructions are layered to increase awareness and intensify sensation, creating a multisensory, physically demanding experience. While often guided by rich imagery, Gaga is fundamentally rooted in physicality and embodiment.
Within this shared research, the improvisational nature of the practice allows each participant to build a deeply personal connection to movement. Gaga provides a framework to discover and strengthen the body, developing flexibility, endurance, agility, coordination, and efficiency, while stimulating the senses and imagination.
Participants awaken dormant areas, increase awareness of their habits, and improve movement efficiency through layered tasks, while connecting to pleasure within effort. Gaga is an evolving practice, and classes continuously develop accordingly.
Movement Lab
The Movement Lab offers a space to deepen the language of movement through specific tasks and exercises, supporting the development of dance and improvisation practices.
The session will end with a free dance party.
